'She went psycho on me': After an argument, crazy roommate locks cat owner out of the house with no way back in, telling her to "reflect on her actions", while the cat is screaming from inside the house

Roommates can be hard enough, but roommates when there's a cat involved… that's a whole other level of risk.

You want to vet your roommates well before choosing them. You want to do it for yourself, of course, but if you have a cat, you have to do it for their sake too. All kinds of situations can happen if the roommate-cat discussion doesn't happen properly. Some people hate their roommate's cats and ask them to lock the cats away all the time. Other times, it's the opposite, and the roommates think the cat is theirs too, and some go as far as trapping the cat in their rooms. Sometimes, it's simply the roommates neglecting their own cats and dumping the responsibility of taking care of them on someone who never sgned signed up for it.

With all that said, we thin that the situation in today's story is by far the most insane that we have ever come across. And honestly, we don't know if this could have been avoided with proper vetting. We would like to believe it could have, that we wouldn't have ended up in a situation like this. But there is no way to know. And we totally understand them reaching out to the internet to look for advice, because we don't know what we would have done in the moment either.

First of all, this is one of the most insane things that we have heard in a long time. Second of all, the best solution, in our opinions, is to get in and get out as fast as possible. You and the cat need to be out of there. Come in when you can, find someone to stay with and can take your kitty for a while, pack your cat's things, and get your cat out of there. The rest can be handled later. And we're not telling you to get your cat out of there lightheartedly. We know how difficult that is for a cat. But there is more risk to staying there than there is to being with a cat sitter until you can officially figure this out.

We don't know about the legalities of the situation, but if you can reach a lawyer somehow, we would try to talk to them. What matters more than that, more than money, more than anything else, is making sure that you and your cat are safe. And it sounds like you're on that. Keep us updated.
